Took my 04 Silverado with 35,000 miles in for a state inspection today and the factory rotors are a rusted piece of junk. Its time for new rotors and I'm not going to put oem back on, so what aftermarket pads and rotors are you guys using and how do you like them? TIA

I think even the GM rotors are now Chinese castings. A name brand auto parts store like Full Service, Advance, O'Reilly, CarQuest, etc. should be able to provide an equal to OEM quality rotor. Personally I stay clear of Autozone but that is just my preference. Here they hire nobody over the age of 16 and if you know ANYTHING about parts you are disqualified from workin there. I put some on my 2000 Explorer (company sled) along with some premium Ceramic pads about 15K ago and I have been really pleased. No warping and the pads stop much better than the OEM pads did.

Mine came from O'Reilly's.

I'm wondering if the larger rotors from the 05+ will fit on the 04's without issue. Seems like a simple way to get bigger rotors.

I put Baer Deccalarotors drilled and slotted along with EBC Green Stuff pads on my other truck. I really like the pads but I don't think i'll buy Baer rotors again, they squeak really bad and with in a very short time they started looking terrible and had a big lip of crud along the edge of the fire path. I'd recommend EBC or Hawk pads with Powerslot, Powerstop, or Brembo rotors, go with slotted ones too and skip drilled they will warp or crack quicker

The Hawk Pad/Powerslot Rotor combo has always been a favorite of mine. If I don't find anything better, that's probably what I'll go with again when it's time to replace the brakes on my Yukon. Or when I get tired of how much the stock brakes suck and replace them sooner.

35000 miles thats good i was on my third set by them miles on my 02. i just went to the auto parts store

I would have to say that 10-15k miles on a set of brake pads is not normal. There must have been other issues with your brakes. I usually get 65 to 75k mi on front brakes.

I used wagner Thermo-quiet pads on my last truck. It seemed to stop slightly better than OEM, with less dust.

since I know that mine will need it in a few years (if I dont trade it in sooner) what would be a decent replacement for a budget of $1000.00 for all four corners.....? I dont intend to do anything, just looking for info on the matter (preferably OEM size only) and no I do not want the China crap
