C1500 No Start

Hey guys, this 98 1500 4.3L chevy giving a hard time lol. about 3 weeks ago my best friend was on the freeway drving and hes not a car guy somehow he threw a rod and blew hole in number 6 cylinder. pulls over as its dieing and tries to restart it and he gets nothing everything works but the truck wont crank or even flutter the starter. so i find him a motor get it in there put everything back together and it is still turing the fuel pump on all the gauges work radio ect but the truck wont crank so i went on all data ive gone threw the whole diag process everything is working properly wiring is right. So im checking fuses and when I touched the number 8 fuse which is the crank fuse to ground it cranks over and runs with flying colors with the security light on. could the engine throwing a rod cause the computer to go in fail mode? any ideas or leads i can follow i apriciate the help

no,you need a pro,take it to a dealer,you have a possible security code,did you swap everything over from old engine to new,? gl,cheers
