On my '07 Sierra, I pulled the overhead console, used my digital multi-meter, and located a wire with 12 volts "on" when the key was "on". Also located a ground wire. Tapped into both of those, fusing the power lead with a 1amp inline fuse, and mounted a female jack from Radio Shack, into the plastic housing. Then wired a male jack from Radio Shack into the wire lead. Clipped the detector to the visor and simply plug it into the jack. Starts up when I start the truck. Easily removed when I want/need to take it out of the truck.

IIRC, the hot wire in the over head console is colored pink. I installed an Escort in my NBS, and used that wire. I just cut off the end of the wire that came with the Escort and spliced it in.

That wouldnt work for me cause my detector is on top of the dash by my door. I popped up the front part of my dash(left side) and found a plug with a switched wire...Thanx for the help!!

That's what I'm doing right now but none of the fuses off the left side fuse box shut off with the ignition switch....they're on full time. I have an older RD and will try to find the trailer wiring harness that the guy mentioned in another previous thread under or near the steering column that he used. I'd go the Invisicord route, but my RD is too old.
