Added Factory Fog Lights To 2000 Silverado

I bought a factory fog light kit off of ebay a while back and hooked them up. I have the button/wiring and all. The lights will not work and when I researched it it looks as though I need to have the dealer turn them on in the body control modual. My dealer looked dumbfounded when I went there. Anyone know about this?

I like the look with the light there anyways if they do not work.

Thanks guys.

I guess that would be tied into the BCM, i wouldnt have guessed that as my first guess, but it could be into that. Mine came stock with the fog lights, and it has a button below it for the rear light. My guess is it would have its own fuse/circuit to control it, not the BCM, but I am probably wrong.

If i remember correctly,

all you have to due is plug and play, but i could be wrong.

Did you get everything? I think there is a relay that you have to plug in in the engine bay.

I remember i was going to do this in a 01, and the dealer told it would cost be about 120 in parts and my truck had all the wiring in place.

I have a 2000 Silv and I put the fog lights in off of ebay. You have to have the BCM programmed by the dealer to accept the lights. I had them redo the PCM too for bigger tires at the same time and they charged me $99. Wasn't too happy about the price, but it's done and they work great.

I added the factory fog lamps to my old 2002 1500 series. The only thing I had to do was add the switch to the intrument panel, add the mentioned relay then connect the supplied wire going to the fog lamps the ground it to the frame. Maybe a 2000 model is a little different? I had a had time getting it to a good ground point when I installed mine.

I just did the same thing last week... had to have the dealer reprogram the BCM on my '01.

First off, why you need to program a computer to 'recognise' a wire was hooked up to the fuse box I'll never understand and why GM wouldnt just have it already in a base program on every truck they send off the line.... I dont know....

with that said, I asked my dealer about a 'performance' upgrade to my program and he didnt have a clue. He could "only" reflash my original program and add the foglights.....

Oh well, my lights work awesome and they work as factory. No extra wireing/hacking.

Thanks guys for the responses. I figured it would cost around $100 since that what they want to hook up the computer to the truck.

I thought about rewiring it but I like the stock switch. I have studdied the wiring diagram and it is a grounded system type that isn't easy to use the switch to make it work. If I get some extra money one day I will have it reprogrammed. I will just have to find a dealer that isn't stupified by my request.

I may put in a set of power seats. Hope they do not need programmed also lol.
