04' T'blazer Tachometer Messed Up

My wife just informed me that the tach in her TB is messed up. It's not reading the correct RPM's sometimes it's pegged, sometimes its not, but nonetheless something is up. Are these tachs like the "old school" ones that are a cable that ties into the transmission, or is this electronic? I need to know how to fix it before I go to the dealer and they charge me $75 to pull up to the door.

Just wait for it. Replace the cluster. My wifes 05 went out at 50k and no ext. warrenty. GM said tough. So i e-bay'ed it . Guss every 50k or so we will have this problem. GM should recall this like on the fullsize ones!!!!!!!!!!
