Well, as opposed to the other guy that got flamed and owned on 13 pages, I just want to post to say Happy New Year. Hope every survived the night (it was wild here in austin)........on a side note, anybody know how to take off my longhorn from my window? the reason I ask is because I want to put it back on later............

Happy New Year! Glad to hear you made it home safe from whatever celebrations you attended. I hope everyone made it back safe, too. I stayed in (and did my best to avoid "the thread") last night. As for the sticker... My first thought was to remove it and get another one, later. It sounds like you're wanting to do something else, though..?

THAT longhorn sticker.........it is a one way visibility sticker that allows me to see out but no one can see in..........I wanted to put something like the cowboys logo on the back or landscape, I have found some 'window banners' (that is what they are called), that I would like to put on, but my problem is the longhorn banner - I paid $150.00 for that banner and it was well worth it (no loss in color and it was easy as hell to put it on - think oversized sticker)

Oooooh!! One of those! Ok!

 

The only things I found said something like this :

 

"The product can be easily removed by starting at one corner and pealing the film from the window. If necessary, use a plastic scrapper to help loosen the material from the glass, then peal away from the window. Remaining residue can be easily removed with a glass cleaner."

 

Part of me can't help thinking that you might have difficulties re-applying it, though. The mention of "remaining residue" makes me think "glue," which would need to be reapplied, in some way... While looking around, though, I did come across some pretty neat treatments for the back window. Nice!

Yeah every time I have gotten pulled over for it, the cop says "nice sticker, go horns", then checks to make sure it is legal - "if you can see out, then we are ok with it".... :dunno:

that is a mighty "sticker"! I was imagining something much different until I saw the pic.

 

Same here. I was thinking of something about 3 inches in diameter, hence my original thinking of "just go buy another one."

You are getting harassed by the cops. You could paint your rear window black and cover it with plate steel and it wouldn't be illegal as long as you have mirrors on the sides of your truck.

I would suggest starting at one corner and cutting it at varying angles (10 degrees, then every 5 or so degrees until you hit 90) to the other side of the window with a box cutter then repeating for the other three corners. Of course, I can't understand why anyone would put a cow on their car in the first place. ;)

      You're better read than that Atlas. 😏   British science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke formulated three adages that are known as Clarke's three laws, of which the third law – that "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" – is the best known and most widely cited.   Stribeck and the pivotable Hersey Number isn't voodoo nor snake oil. That part is physics. It's what marketing and bean counters do with it that is snake oil and voodoo.    Stribeck is the relationship between Hersey and the Coefficient of Friction. Within the Hersey Equation if viscosity and viscosity is 'Dependent' on.......heat.......and.......viscosity index or the temperature to viscosity slope.    Specifically Hersey is the viscosity AT THE TEMPERATURE IN THAT LOCATION FOR THAT SLOPE.   Hydrodynamic lubrication exist when the film thickness in the location is 3X the Ra roughness of the surface. This is irrespective of the hardness of the substrate. To obtain that thickness X viscosity is required for Y velocity at Z load. That's a lot of moving parts. It is also impossible to maintain in an ICE but nearly possible with a turbine under constant load.    What does that mean? Error heavy and operate light. Wear is inevitable but the rate of wear and the milage obtainable are a function of prevailing conditions and HABITS. The only penalty is viscous drag and at fractions so low as to be well worth the effort. Double the life, half the manufacturing carbon foot print. Greed is the only impediment.    The materials generated by SwRI are the RESULT not an estimation or a hypothesis.    Don't delude yourself sir, EV's have as many pitfalls as ICE's. We just don't know what they are yet and it will take longer to sort as MARKETING and GREEDY CEO's have had more time to polish the turd they are selling.

      You can always count on greed to prey on ignorance and stupidity.    Friend bought a 2019 Ford Flex and asked me about using Valvoline R&P 5W30 in it. Told him give the miles on it and the fact it wasn't yet using oil that it was a good plan. He uses a Valvoline quick change shop for his oil service.   First they tell him that isn't the oil the OEM recommends. He told them he didn't care what the OEM thought. Then they floated the, "But it will void your warranty"    His reply was it's a 2019, there is no warranty and informed them their knowledge of the law was lacking.    Then they tell him 'But it will ruin your motor"!.    Mine to ruin he says. Finally they give in and charge him 150% the semi-syn price    Point it the brainwash is so embedded that even the service industry is drunk on their swill. The public is right behind them. Echoing the same lies on every forum and media platform. If the end goal is indeed EV then I'd say that ship is about built.
