I usually try to avoid making posts like this, but d**n! An entire post with no capitalization or punctuation is just too difficult to even try to read.

How did you see inside the muffler?

I assume the dealer was telling you that the truck is running rich and needs time to calibrate how much fuel and air it needs. EDIT: You can shortcut this process by following the following poster's advise. Even then you will still get some soot on the tips. I mean you have stuff burning.

And why leave the dealership not understanding what he was talking about. That is what they are there for. Ask questions, and get answers you can understand.

Your muffler bearings are bad.

:) Muffler bearings. Brings to mind the time we were slow and I sent the new parts guy on a 2 hour hunt through microfish for muffler bearings.

You guys! Man, what a tough room.

But tus, you might want to take some time to read a few posts here. There are a lot of us old geezers that were educated old school. You know, puntuation, grammar, capitalization, sentence structure and stuff. Give it a few days and you'll get the hang of it and then we'll welcome you back. :)

Fine since I can't be a meanie, there are no such things as muffler bearings. Just go to your local parts store and ask for a 710 cap. :M16:

Ok fine just having a little fun. These answers are probably not condusive (sp?) to making a new poster welcome to trust his GM tech.

To answer the question I can't really imagine how you saw the inside of a muffler but it does come with a protective oil from the factory. When we prep the vehicle it burns off and makes an awful smell. After that your engine is basically producing thousands of explosions per minute and black stuff is what you might expect to see in the aftermath of an explosion.

Is dat betta hub?

If you cannot understand how a sentence works, please stop posting. Capital letters go at the beginning of sentences and periods, question marks and exclaimation marks go at the end, OK?

Is this better Mike?
