Bolts For Hood Latch

Hello all,

 

New to the forums, not to these trucks. I am trying to repair some body damage on my 99 new style GMC Sierra. In the course of this, I need to replace my hood latch. I have the new one ready to go in, however the bolts that attach this into the support are gone.

 

My question is, what is a good source (besides the Dealership) and what size/thread are these bolts, as I do not have the originals anymore? Thanks

I don't know the size or thread pitch, but if it were me, I'd go to a local hardware store and try to find some bolts that would fit. You should be able to get close to the size, but may have to try a few different sizes to get the exact one. They might even bring a few sizes, or let you take them out to try them yourself. Getting the right thread size throws a little bit of a curve in there too. Most hardware stores sell individual bolts/screws for pretty cheap. Just don't get any that are too long and hit the underside of your hood when installed.

Get the info from a dealership then get em from a hardware store...My guess is it will be either 10 or 13 mm socket size.
