+/- Range Of The Tpms?

I have a 2007 NBS Sierra 2500HD

 

I stopped by my dealer today to get the TPMS setting changed so that I could run less than 60 PSI in my rear tires. The Service Mgr. did not want to change it from factory spec, per the sticker on the door. He claimed that as little as 1 PSI off of the factory setting would trigger the error message on the dash. I know that is wrong because I am 12 PSI below factory spec on the rear and don't get an error. I did get an error when I went down to 50 PSI on the rear.

 

Ideally, I would like to be able to run 50 PSI in the rear tires when empty and 80 PSI with the camper loaded, without getting an error. Is that possible?

Same year,same truck I tried to do same thing. After poking around with google and this site the general consensus is a 25% change is the limit before setting off a warning. So 60 lbs. is your lower limit on the rear. Although when I did this, the warning appeared when I went to the mountains (20 degree temps.)Finally settled on 65lbs. I haven't gone to the dealer to see if they'll change it but yours sounds like he doesn't know much, you get a 1 psi change just warming up the tires. Try another dealer.

mmm on my truck its set that if it fluctuates 5 psi it will set off the alarm message. that is also the amount that the manual says as well. (i have gmt 900 silverado ext cab)
