Onstar Module

Recommended Posts

I own a 2007 silverado. The free onstar is almost over and was wondering where the onstar module is located. Would like to use the cellular coax cable to connect my own phone to the trucks external antenna. I live in an area of very spotty and poor cell phone reception. Any suggestions.

Thanks for looking M.Cueva.

Hey 99Silverado1500, look behind your glove box. It may be there. Read that on a Google search, but it wasn't there on my model. Maybe it helps you out.

Do you have a diagram of where the Onstar Module is on a 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD Crew Cab? My father wants to take his out so Big Brother can't watch us.

I think you can disable Onstar with one fuse. At least that's what I'm told by my handheld tuner instructions, which tell me to take out the Onstar fuse before I do the programming. I know which one it is but it's late here and I'm not going to go out into the snow and find it, but your fuse box diagram should tell you which fuse it is. Would it work just to take the fuse out I wonder....

that would be the quicker way for it to be shut off, but the original poster wants to use the oem antenna

I think we are on a wild goose chase here unless you know how to work with the coax they use you are going to have a hard time making the antenna useful for anything other than onstar. That said the module is behind the passenger air bag you need to remove the dash cover to get to it. It's kind of a pain the first time but not as bad as it sounds. I posted full instructions about 2 weeks ago to someone else. If I can find it I'll repost if not search my posts for the last 2 weeks.

See I know I have backup from REAL dealership peoples, namely Mike and Rich.........
