Suspension Difference In Sb And Lb And Lowering Info

Hey guys;

Are there any differences in suspension (ie. leafes; shackles; length of leafs etc) between a 2003 GMC Sierra RWD Longbox 1500 Sierra and the Shortbox version. I am trying to drop my trucks rear end 3-4 inches. (And also the front by 2).

I also am curious as to the easiest way to go at at. Could I just change the shackles in the rear and the shocks up front and in the rear? Or must I change the leaf springs. I contacted Belltech and they only have a shortbox kit. Not to say they are wrong but is it possible that some parts like shackles are the same? I am trying to hunt down a shortbox and measure the difference.

Thanks in advance

The leafs will be the same length and the shackles will be the same on all 1500's no matter what the bed length. The front coil spring rates do differ for extcab and crewcab but nothing changes by bed length.

Shackles will only net you 2" rear drop so if you want more you will need to change the spring hangers or go with replacement leafs. I recommend hotchkis leaf springs.

Up front you can either get lowering spindles or replacement drop coils. Check out ground force, eibach or hotchkis for a 2/4 kit.
