I just got an ipod(I know about 2 years late), but I want to conect it "with a wire" to my 03 Silverado with just a single cd no tape no XM no Onstar. I need the part to do this please help me!

This is what I've got. The sound quality is great, and you can control the iPod from the stock radio. The install was real easy, you just have to follow the directions for a couple of the steps.

I've really been looking at these. If you scan the threads on this site, you'll see that the version of this from Coastaetech is not highly favored. The best two are from PAC Audio and Peripheral. Another is for USA Spec. Check out their web sites for complete specs and the like. www.peripheralelectronics.com and www.pacaudio.com. You're looking for ipod solutions or ipod interface.

I have purchased, but not installed yet, a version from Peripheral call the "Gateway" from a local distributor here. Learned alot from their technician. Both web sites have "application guides" that tell you which model you need for your vehicle. I believe most are "plug and play" but you will probably have to remove the radio and put this module inline between the factory harness and the radio itself.

Most of the ones that plug directly into the radio will not work at all if your radio doesn't have XM or a cd changer control. An easy way to check is look at the back of the radio. If there is only one port for a single wiring harness, you'll either need to upgrade your radio, use an FM transmitter, or use a tape adapter if you can.

I've had the USA spec one for about a year, and it has worked great. I did have to upgrade my radio from the stock AM/FM only radio that comes on the work trucks to the AM/FM/6CD. It was around $100 on ebay, plus $25 for the dealer to program it.
