Active Fuel Management

I have a 2008 Silverado Crew Cab 4 x 4 with 5.3 L engine with Active Fuel Management. I don't have the Trip computer buttons, only the stick beside the Speedometer. I don't see any indication that the AFM is working when I drive, no message, light or anything. The dealer told me to drive by and he would help me figure out hot to turn on the indicator.

Does anyone know if indeed there is an indicator and how to turn the indicator on?

Thanks

You should be able to feel it change over to 4 and back to 8. I sure can on mine. It even sounds different.

Really? I have never felt or heard mine changeover....ever. It is completely unperceptible.

With my Magnaflow system, you can hear a little difference. Power wise, the transition is seamless.

If it weren't for the instant economy display, I'd never know.

I cant tell either, unless I'm looking at the instant economy display. As for seeing it, you'll want to do the DIC upgrade. Easy and worth it.

The 6.0 engine for 2007 is NOT EQUIPPED with AFM...

anybody that tells you otherwise is lying

Starting 2008, the 6.0 is VVT and AFM

Oh really? LMAO!!! Funny how my truck has both AFM and VVT and my DIC displays the 4-mode status then. You really might not want to question this since I HAVE ONE!!!

The 6.2 does not have AFM, but it does have VVT.

The 6.0's in the 3/4 tons also do NOT have AFM.

...was thinking 6.2

...sorry fellas

Your forgiven, this time. :D

Do the 2008 6.2's have AFM? I didn't think so, this would be news to me.

I couldn't tell in the beginning except when I had instant mpg displayed on the DIC. Later I could hear a flutter exaust sound, but not really objectionable. Now I run the DIC blank and don't give a d**n. :D
