Thoughts On Tonneau Covers

I'm shopping around for a tonneau for my '07 nbs. I want one that will still allow the use of bed accessories like rails and such. I really like the look and function of the Bakflip folding cover, but I see it only carries a 1 yr. warranty. Similar models do as well. In a roll-up model, I like the Truxedo Lo-Pro. It carries a lifetime warranty and that includes the fabric. Id like to hear the pros and cons of folding versus roll-ups...what you all have...and how you like them. Thanks.

rollups, very good, last a long time with little maintenance, though not as secure.....

I have the Access Lorado cover and Putco stainless bedrails. I like it quite a lot.

Also quite interested in the covers. Anyone have any experience with the factory GMC ones?

I've been told that they are a "cheaper" version of the Access cover. I'll admit this is just what I have been told in here. For that reason I bought a regular Access branded cover.

Hmm. Well tomorrow I think I'm going to be signing the deal to get my new truck and thinking about seeing if I can work a tonneau cover into it. Is it worth even doing it? and will they work with rails?

The GM/GMC covers are over the rail style and will not allow bedrails.

I just installed my access vanish cover and I really like it, only sticks up 1/2". Rolls up easily, rolls out easily and locks in at the tailgate. Add that with a locking tailgate handle and you cant get in.

When I ordered my truck, I told him I wanted an Access cover. He told me the GM one was an Access brand cover with a GM logo. I asked him to confirm that it was EXACTLY the same as an Access. He did. I told him if it wasn't, he would be taking it off and putting on an Access. He said "fine". When I picked up my truck, guess what? It had an ACCESS brand on it. He told me he took the GM one out of the box and knew right away I would not be happy. It is made by Access, but it is NOT the same cover, it is "cheaper", yet the price was the same.

What rails are you talking about?

Unless you have a sharp knife... :(

I think he wants the side bedrail bars like zembonez

I have the exact same (Putco) rails as Zembonez, they fit fine with an Access (need to update my sig pic).

See opinion and experience on bak-flip...

A search will result in a number of other posts on this cover.

My experience isn't as bad as some.

They do have a generation 2 bak-flip out that is supposed to have fixed the issues with the original, but who knows. It is promising that they are listening and trying to improve the product.

I've heard great things about fold-a-cover (hard folding cover like the bak-flip). I don't think it flips up against the back window though which is one thing I really like about the bak-flip.
