Hello alll,

I want to keep my trucks paint prestine without tons of swirl marks also. I usually wax my vehicles about every 3 onths or so. I also try to go through the car wash so I don't get swirls in the paint.

How does eveyone else wash or wax there vehicles? Also, what othe suggestions or opinions do you have to offer on keeping the paint in good condition.

Thanks this site has been so helpfull!!

To avoid swirl marks, you need to wash and wax in a back and forth motion....there will still be marks, but the swirl marks catch the light/sun from all directions....the back and forth marks can only be seen in certain light....trust me they are much less noticable....anyway it works for me........Dave

NEVER wax in circular motions....it will kill your paint.

I'm very anal about washing my truck. Here are the key things that I do to keep it swirl free.

Rinse truck throughly (very important to get as much dirt off initially as possible). Use two buckets for washing. One with soapy water and another bucket with to rinse dirt off of your washing utensil. You can use the bucket grates that they sell at auto stores to catch dirt and debris but you don't have to. Never use those stupid brushes at do-it-yourself car washes. Wash the truck from the top down with plenty of soapy water. For drying I use microfiber towels and a california water blade. If one of your towels falls on the ground while drying, get a new one. I wax my truck right after washing because if I let it sit it just accumulates dust which you don't want to rub into your paint. I use a foam applicator to apply and a microfiber to take off. same as before If i drop a towel I get a new one.

My car before this was a dark blue 2007 Mustang GT, washing it drove me crazy due to the dark color. My last bit of advice is to buy a white truck. I did.

micro fiber wash mitt (NO SPONGE). California blade for drying then Eagle One , spray wax while you dry is good every time you dry. It helps to dry it without too much rubbing, and Never wipe the truck with anything dry. Micro fiber waxing and wax removing cloths. A trip to Walmart will do. PS.if you got a dark color, good luck
