I was more interested about the comment about the reduction of the fleet sales than the position as global #1. I would hazard a guess that reduced fleet sales, would only help with resale down the road.

I read a similar story earlier, except it said that Toyota wasn't going to release the exact numbers and was going to stick to their 9.7 million estimate. It's pretty amazing when you think about it. That's only a difference of 0.03%. Next year doesn't look too good...

Sad to say but unless something amazing happens I think that this will be the last year GM is #1 in the world market. And unless something changes the US market may not be far behind.

Things go in cycles, and nothing is permanent. Now it'll be everyone else's turn to gun down Toyota. There's only only place you can go when you're #1!!

I doesn't matter to me how many other people buy GM. I know I got the most for my money. If I owned GM stock I might see it differently.

I don't think it was so much that they built unreliable cars, it's just that they built cars that people did not want. Thus people got steered away from GM and other American automakers and have not come back. My family would never buy anything but American cars, even though they were not always the best. But I have friends that would never touch an American car because they perceive that they are junk compared to their imported vehicles, and this comes from upbringing. Mostly what I was trying say is that it is very hard to change the public view, although GM is slowly changing their image.

Our country is loosing jobs and people cant figure out why.

Soon you too may loose your job because of imports.

I believe that 80% refers to parts made in the US or Canada and not just the US. I realize that Canada might as well be the US, but it's not. Does anyone know the breakdown on that? What percentage of that 80% are made here versus Canada, on average?
