I've Got The Speakers, Amps, And Hu...now What?

As I figured I would do this install myself, I bought all the parts I needed. Now I am thinking that maybe it's a bit too much for me to do. Don't get me wrong. I know how to use a multimeter, and I know how to handle the airbags. I just think I won't have the time or the space to do the job right. For example, I have 3 rolls of Damplifier Pro and a few rolls of Ensolite, but I can't install them as I don't have the room.

Can anyone recommend an installer in the Tri-State area? They've got to be as meticulous as I am. I realize that the install I want is going to run upwards of $1,000, but I want the money to be well spent. I have gone into a few shops in Brooklyn and Staten Island and I was not impressed.

Has anyone used a pro installer they would hands-down recommend?

good plan, they took 8 hours to do just my amp today. They know how picky I am at this place, they have been doing my work for years, and the manager told me all that was involved, quite a chore.

I am a tech too, and work an all types of engine electronics on HD trucks, etc, but there are 2 things I have no patience for: bodywork and stereo work on modern cars!

Anyhow, I think you made the right decision, don't feel bad about not tackling it!

My problem is I cannot seem to find anyone that will do the job the way I want done. I've gone into a few places I have done business with and told them what I wanted and I got a lot of "sure"'s and yes. One place I got a quote, $1,200 and told him I'd give him half up front and another $800 once it was done. That's $200 more. He wouldn't go for it. d**n people have become so f-in difficult to deal with.

what is it that u want done exactly that the shops wont do for u?

i do installs out of my house. i have a 2001 Tahoe that i am working on now with 9 tv's and a insane stereo all custom and clean. i have done many vehicles, i am in Staten Island, if u would like to come and see my truck.

Thanks for the offer, but I'll pass. Aside from my needing to be out of my mind, had it installed by a shop a buddy referred me to. All good, and they are always there to adjust/answer questions. And, yes, they were not cheap, but they did it the way I would have. And they did it with me over their shoulder (and they charged me for my being a PITA). Where were you MECP certified?

MECP can be done online, there are also mobile electronics schools located around the country.

i am mecp certified, and having been working on stereos professionally for close to 13 years.

i built a nice reputation for my self so i decided to stop working for shops and work for my self....this way i get 100% of my install pay as well as the items i sell......rather that making a shop owner rich off of my talents, u know?

i have a 4 car garage that i work out of. it is basically a shop but no store front.

Hey... Some of the best custom install artists are the ones that work on their own turf and at their own pace. You really should think about posting some pics of your work here. We'd all like to see (and probably use some of your ideas).
