Got a couple of questions, I know more or less how to swap this jumpseat out with a full console, my problem is what kind of socket does this nut require (And where can I get one)

Well I managed to break both my Husky and Craftsman torque wrenches. Craftsman said they would happily replace mine (so long as I send back the broken one) but Husky said, "Sorry your 1 year warranty is up". (Never again)

just F.Y.I. a 15mm socket will work on those as well. I think it was a 15mm. i used a regular socket to get those loose when i installed my laptop mount. just so you know if you get in a pinch or something.

Yeah... the right 12 point socket can work in a pinch. BUT - once it slips you are screwed. (or at least you'll have to go get the right socket)

I always buy the Maximum or whatever line that has the lifetime warranty. I have a utility knife that has been around for about 6 years and i was looking old and not opening like it should, took it back and got a brand new one no questions asked. Worth the extra 10 bucks if you ask me :nono:

Actually I got the LS on the Chevy side, but it should be the same as the SL on the GMC side. I purchased it off of Ebay after verifying where it came from, what it had in it and asking the seller to give me some identifying marks on the console unit itself. Then I sent Rich (MS3DALE) a PM, because I know that the glovebox trim piece is different when the floor console is installed. He gave me that part number.

Here is a couple of pics off of ebay for the console I bought:

I plan to do a full writeup on the Wiki once I am done with the swap. In preparation, I have taken many pictures my interior and will take many pictures as I am doing the swap (It will take me substantially longer dropping the ratchet and picking up the camera every few minutes, but it will be worth it). This install will be for the GMT-800 Series trucks, there is little difference between them and the GMT-900 Series trucks, so it should apply to the NBS as well. The seller is shipping the console out today and I should hopefully be getting it late this week, or early next week. In the mean time, I have to buy a few more sockets for this specific project. Quick question for anybody that has a console and has actually messed with it.....the console I am getting is coming with the full bose sound system, my question is, can I realistically take that crap out and make it a bigger storage space???? I have the Crew and want more storage space in the long run. (And If I get tired of the console, I just will swap it back out with the jumpseat)

You lose the ashtray and the storage cubby when you install that console. Otherwise all is good I believe. That center seat actually has more "sale value" than the console. Ebay, here you go!

Mike... was that a french fry I saw under that seat next to your coffee stain? MAN you post some good detailed pics.
