What's After Safari/astro Van?

My current 2001 AWD Safari van has lived its life. After having 2 + Safaris and been driving 3 of them at work, my wife & I don't want another Safari/Astro van again. Time to move onto something different. A vehicle replacement for 2 adults +3 kids, something that gets better MPGs, something thats easier to park between the parking lines. Targeting for 2 WD with 2+1 "removable" rows of seats. If possible, 3rd row seat with 1 removable seat would be perfect. Hopefully, something that can tow more then 3,000+ lbs. FWD is ok but if given a choice, I'd like to stay with RWD - for my towing needs. From your perspective, what's a good Safari/Astro "van like" replacement? How about "used" Envoy XL with I6 in 2WD version? Is this a good replacement "minor towing and family vacation cruising" vehicle?

thanks.

After owning your Safari you'll realize just how big it is compared to an Envoy / Trailblazer. I would go with a Yukon / Tahoe 2WD. You can get a newer one with the flex fuel engine and /or the Displacement on Demand feature I think that's what it's called that shuts off cylinders for better fuel economy. I used to own a Safari and they are truly Mini vans compared to the other "mini-vans". I think the Yukon / Tahoe might get slightly worse MPG's than the Envoy but the difference in interior room is HUGE.

Check out the Acadia, the new crossover from GM. Sounds like it meets your requirements, depending on how much you want to spend.

Yeah... check out the Acadia... IF you have a spare house to sell to pay for it.

If you are used to a van maybe an Express van would suit you. Same MPG and even larger!
