Smoke That Pipe!

On my way to Home Depot, I got behind a lifted (and blinged out) diesel. Well, a car darted in front of him and went into the next lane. As we were coming to a stop sign, and he was slowing down, he go beside the car and a big cloud of black smoke came out of the tailpipe right at the time he got beside the car and filled the inside of the car with that nice black diesel smoke.

I busted out laughing because it was a coincidence that was timed out perfect.

...or was it?

Evidently he was entering the parking lot where the Home Depot was, so I was able to stay behind him for another episode :tear: :

He (or she) was going down in front of the stores when, low and behold, a guy was crossing the road and he wasn't crossing quick enough for the diesel. When he got close to the guy, the guy raised his hand up to give him the finger. He had to raise it pretty high for the driver to see it because it was lifted high enough for the tailpipe to be at waist level. Well, as you may have guessed, when the truck approached the dude, it belched out another smoke bomb and gassed the area, old women, kids and all. Everybody was scrambling to get out of the smoke with their hands over their eyes and nose/mouth.

By this time, I was laughing so hard, that I will never get that image out of my mind and thought I would share it with my truckers here. It also sparked my curiosity wondering what he had.

The diesel never reved up when it spit out the smoke or make any noises, it just puked it out, seemingly at will.

BTW, the two episodes made me laugh and remember it, probably forever, but they are in by no means funny. The first episode could have caused a serious accident and the second one was just done out of lack of ethics. Which is why, whatever it is, is on there in the first place as I don't see any use for it except to kill mosquitoes while your fishin'.

Just though I'd share it with GM'ers and wonder what the heck it was?

edit: spellcheck

I'd like to place my vote in favor of morons getting what they have coming to them. I would have laughed and apologized to nobody for it. :tear:

Not quite the same but years ago a friend had a LUV truck at least it was kinda chevy. He could make the crazy thing backfire some way he would never share his "secrect" to making this happen. When he was between some building it sounded like a cannon going off and if you did not see him it would scare the pee right out of you. It would rattle the windows in our shop when he did it, :tear:

Black smoke is un-burned fuel so I would think he had to of rev'ed up. There are programmers that just smoke alot so maybe it was tuned for it.

If the truck was a manual then he might have just upshifted and let the RPM's drop while he was still on the throttle. I do that in an old 88' f350 7.3l that we use as a farm truck.

I heard you can get them to do this by having your injector pump turned up...I don't know never really tried. Is makes sense though because it would pump in more fuel then what was needed, thus black smoke.
