2008 Silverado Wt

Hi all. I just purchased a 2008 Silverado WT with the 4.3L V-6 and 4L60E tranny and 3.23 gears. Seems to have plenty of power and nuts. I had to go with this package to get a new truck in my price range. It is a regular cab long box and blue granite in color with dark titanium interior. Tow package was not an option on this vehicle, but I will add it. It DOES have the tranny cooler, a big plus for keeping the 4L60E cool. Well, just wanted to know what you guys think and if there are any concerns for the 4.3L as this is the first V-6 I have had. I previously had the 4.8L and the legendary 5.7L 350. So far I love the truck, just want to know what y'all think. Oh, it also has the G-80 locker.

Not bad. Any pics?

No, not yet. Wayyyy to crappy of weather here to do it. I should have took em yesterday when I picked it up. The inside of this truck is pretty nice and the DIC everyone is adding here is on order through a local GM dealer. I agree, for the price, you can unleash all kinds of info on your vehicle, kinda nice for what you pay for these things.

I had my 1994 4.3L with 96,000 and never had a problem with it. I towed a boat with mine from state to state and worked well. On my 07 I elected to get the 4.8L motor because it gets better gas millage than my 1994 4.6L did. All in all the truck was very good to me.

Congratulations on your new truck. I love mine in the WT trim: basic, no frills, but with a lot more creature comforts than were standard a few years ago (engine hour meter, trans temp readout, tilt wheel, onstar, etc.). The only 4.3 I've had was a 1990 K1500 with a 5-speed, and I'm sure your new 4.3 has a hell of all lot more power than the old TBI motor did.

I originally wanted the 4.8L as I was used to it, but I wanted to stay @ $330 a month for a payment, sooo, the 4.3L was the only option. My Dad says I am not going to get anywhere w/o 4x4 but today we got some snow and I think it did very well. If the G-80 kicked in at all at a stop light I did ot feel it. I think it will be a good ruck. Thanks for the comments guys.

Congrats, I hope you enjoy your WT as much as I enjoy mine. Is it 2WD or 4x4?

I'd love to hear how your fuel economy goes, keep us updated.

Mine is 2wd. I filled up today, I put my Scan-Gauge on it until the DIC comes from the dealer next week and it says @ 17 MPG. However the amount of fuel I put in and what the Scan-Gauge said was 2 different things, so I would say right @ 20 MPG. Scan-Gauge said I needed 18.x Gallons and I put in 10 Gallons and it filled it up. It was at 3/4 tank so I think 20 MPG sounds about right.

As long as you put a bunch of weight in the back of the truck, you'll be fine in snow.

I really like my w/t so far.No problems to speak of at 7200 mi.My truck is decent in the snow, but I added a set of Bridgestone Blizzak DMZ-3 winter tires that help a bunch.I have been getting 16-17 mpg with the 4.8.

Just remember, the 4.3 V6 you now have is the SAME as the legendary small-block, just with 2 cylinders missing. Same architecture as the classic small block V-8

Excellent engines. Sounds like you got a good deal. Congrats.

LOL, all I am missing is power windows. I have remote keyless entry and will have the DIC by the end of next week, so I think it will be good.

I still have my 1990 1500 4.3 @ 140,000 miles and it is still running excellent. Never any leaks. Never any engine problems. Starts every time. For me, anyway, at 18 years old and still running great, I can only say good things about the 4.3. Granted, I changed oil every 3,000 miles. And, of course, I never abused the truck.

This truck has been the most reliable truck I have ever owned.
