Leveling Kit

Has any one heard of this ready lift, they say there keys will keep you from over doing it on the keys and keep the stock ride, i have heard keys are not worth doing, it will mess with the ride and then there fine...which is it, i went to the chevy dealer and they said they would do it for 40 bucks and then my mechanic said its just a realighment there doing?? Is it better to crank the stock keys, get new keys and which kind and what do i need to make it work, new shocks, other stuff, or suck it up and pay 1300 bucks for a 3in skyjacker lift that does the same as the keys. All i want to run is 285's on 17's or 33x12...Please help me... ...

I can't answer all your questions but I just had the Truxxx 3"/1" Leveling/Lift kit installed yesterday on my 2006 Sierra 1500. It fit 295/70/17 Nittos with no rubbing at all...that is...normal street driving. I think it looks pretty good...MUCH better than the dragster look it had before. So far, the ride is still great..maybe just a tad stiffer but not much. As the days go on, I can give better info on how it rides, etc... Good luck on your research and I hope someone will give you the info you need. Here is a picture...

I installed the Ford keys two years ago and maxed them out back in March-ish of 2007 along with Rancho 4" lift shocks. Rides better than some trucks, but still nothing like stock. I need to add 1" lift blocks in the rear. I was running 305/70/R16 Baja Claws then switched to 285/75/R16 BFG A/T.

Also if you're going to drop $1300 in a 3" lift, you might as well spend another $500 and get like a 6" lift.

Believe me i want a 6in lift but its the gears in my truck that suck, i have 3.42, but its and 5spd with the 4.8, a guy i talked to tried to talk me into doing 35's saying the manual makes a difference...how many mpgs will i drop though if i do 35's.....

I hate to tell you this, but if you have to worry about mpg's when you lift a truck, you don't need to lift it. I hate to sound rude, but when I just put my 33's on my truck my parents criticized me about the money I was wasting, but I didn't care, cause my truck looks good and I will pay the price for it to look good.

With the 4.8 and a 5spd....I dunno about 35's. It's easier to change your 3.42s than engine and tranny. I'd suggest asking someone else that could help you a lot better than I can.

I would stick to the 33's before i would change the gears though...i know a guy that would do it, it just the fact of doing it. I was just thinking of getting the ready lift keys and get new shocks to hope it wouldnt mess my truck up.

Nice looking truck. I'm planning on the same front lift. On the back, did you take out the existing blocks and replace them with the 1" blocks from the kit? I have a 1500 with the Z71 package, and already have blocks, but maybe the ones in the kit are higher.

Thanks! The kit comes with 3" blocks that replace the 2" factory blocks which results in a 1" lift. You can see the instructions and photos of what the kit includes at www.truxxx.com.

I appreciate you saying that, cause now I am going to go buy the 3" blocks and install them on my rear. I need just that 1" inch lift to make my truck finally sit perfect!

I have the same exact truck and color except being a 2007.. That is how I would like my truck to sit.. Would you be able to make life easier on meself and providing the part numbers for that exact one so I can go ahead and order.. That will make my truck look top notch..

The part # is 40435 and is for a 2006. I ordered it from FatBobsGarage.com for $275. The 2007 models are probably different so you need to chec out their site for your specific year model. Here is the link to the part on the Truxxx.com website. http://truxxx.com/chevrolet_products/404035.htm. Remember, this one included shock extension brackets as well...So...3 things: Keys, Shock extension brackets and 3" rear blocks.

I have been told that you can't go as high cranking factory keys as you can if you replace the keys without messing something up. My brother had the factory keys cranked on his 2000 truck for several years and it rode just fine and no problems but he didn't have them cranked much at all. I went with the Truxxx kit so I could go 3" in the front and add 1" in the rear.

I also called my dealer and asked if they could crank my torsion bars 1.5" they said its a common thing to have done.. So I was thinking of having that done untill I have enough to by my truxx lift #404035

I have a random question

I have a 2000 chevy silverado Z71 running 285/75/16. I just bought a 2007 GMC Sierra Z71 (old body style) running 275/70/17. When I park the 2 trucks side by side my 2000 chevy sits a tad higher in the front, it really bugs me.. Is that because my old Z71's torsion bars are cranked up 1.5"????
