Splash Guards

I hear the molded guards are easy to install and look good. I also heard that they rub up against the fender flares over time scuffing the paint. The flats wouldn't do this. Anyone with experience with either of these?

I've had the molded ones on my 04 since I bought it new 4 yrs ago. I put foam tape behind them when I installed them, but I haven't had them off at all to see if it helped the paint rubbing off or not. I've plowed a bit of snow with them a few times since they're rigid, but they've held up.

I bought a set of four flat ones... they looked so goofy they are in my garage... UNINSTALLED.

Husky molded mud guards come with clear protective tape film that's simple to install, and should alleviate paint rubbing concerns. I like the looks of molded mud guards much more than flat ones. One negative thing about molded guards though is the possibility of tearing them off if you back over something or your truck's front end sits real low.

I installed the factory gmc molded mud guards on my 2500hd. They was on the truck for 2 years then I removed the ones in the front due to putting on larger tires. They did rub/scuff the paint on my fender flares, wish I would have thought of using some 3m clear protective tape or something else to protect the paint. I do prefer the molded mud guards over the flat ones.

i have an 02 i recently bought and it had the husky molded on it didnt really like them so i took them off and it not only rubbed the paint off but it cut groves in the fender flares its going to the paint shop next week,if you like i can email you some pics of what it looks like,haveing trouble posting pics hope this helps rick

GM Molded mud guards for me - that's what I have on my 07 Classic HD with OEM painted fender flares.
