Aggressive off road look from a 2WD V6 automatic? I would leave it alone. Enjoy the fuel economy you'll get. Anything you do to that truck suspensionwise will kill your gas mileage and make the truck look silly. The best bet would be to get some all terrain tires (same size as OEM), like BF Goodrich. That would give it a little more agressive look without causing other unwanted side effects.

A front Bull bar from Westin would look OK too.

Welcome to the forum Eric! Nice truck. Considering the circumstances, I would do the following:

-Some different rims. Either 18s or 20s...I'm not sure; that's a decision you'd have to make. Either way, I'd wrap them in some AT tires, but nothing too crazy. Just aggressive enough to look good. You don't need monster mudders.

-Nerf bars to give some personality to those slab sides.

-A different grill. The matte black stocker doesn't do it for me.

-I'd avoid a bull bar. There's a reason you don't see many of the GMT900 trucks with them on; they just don't look right.

Whatever you do, good luck

First off Welcome!

As for your question, did you get a G80? If not I'd put your money into a good locker before anything else if you plan to do any offroading. I've got an open-diff 2wd and can still get through a creek or two, but the times I ahve gotten stuck a second wheel probably would have gotten me out.

1st thing I would do since the purchase would put me back for some time, until a bigger aftermarket budget can get me more stuff:

1. Remove emblems.

2. Leveling kit

3. Paint to match the black parts of the front bumper and grille (leave the center grille black) and rear black bumper parts

4. Tint the windows.

5. If they are 16" rims, get some 295/75/16 Terra Grapplers to beef it up without buying wheels yet until some $$ rolls in, then get some 22's unless you want a big tire look, then I would stick with 18".

Just my 2 cents worth

6. Next, If I had some spare change, I would look for aftermarket front and rear lights.

not trying to sound stupid

like i said this is my first truck

open diff is when only on tire spins right

i thought the trucks had a feature where they could detect when your tire was sliping and give power to the other tire

That feature is an optional g80 locker. And welcome. Get a billet grill and paint the black to your truck colour. Get some tint and nerf bars and rims and your set ;)

I'm also a newb to this truck stuff, but right now you get power to your 2 rear wheels and when you start slipping, only one wheel will be spinning and the other one will do nothing. Can anyone confirm this?

- also chrome door handles and mirrors will look great on that colour
