Will I Need A Tuner

Recommended Posts

I just added a Corsa Sport exhaust. I'm thinking about adding a cold air intake. Will I need a tuner, or will the trucks ECM compensate and give it more fuel? I did not want a lean condition. And I did not want to buy a tuner if I did not have to.

Yes, you need a Tune (NOT a tuner). But not because you have an exhaust or a CAI, but because you bought a GM truck. You need to "fire the Nannies".

It's only a 4.8L. Corsa said that if I add a CAI, my exhaust will be louder because I will be taking in more air and leaving more out, making the exhaust louder. He said it will also help a very little with performance. Will the Nelson tune void any warranty?

The 4.8 has alot of power that needs to be unleashed too. It won't void any warranty if they do not know about it. That's why you keep a spare set of stock modules. Or you can request a set of stock modules from Allen prior to dealer service if you don't want to spend the cash on the spares. Also, a dealer can NOT see a tune, but he could re-flash over it and then you'd need Allen to reflash it for you (free of charge of course).
