rjh1936 Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 I have a 1990 G30 van that is a cutaway with a class C motor-home on it. I need to get a copy of the VECI (Vehicle Emission Control Information) label that is suppose to be in the engine compartment. This van does not have one. The VIN number is 2GBJG31K3L4138967. I have four different repair manuals for this series van and they all said to refer to this label to get primary ignition advance. I called the local GM parts dept and they cannot provide me with one, as they are out of date. I called the local GM tech line, (local service and repair) and asked if they could provide me with a copy. I was told that they probably have in their service manuals, but they will not take the time to look it up, I could bring it in and they could time it. NICE GUYS, HUH. Can any one provide me with a copy of the proper label for this vehicle? It is TBI with the distributor that has the coil separate and has no vacuum advance. Thanks, Dick
bobcat5544 Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 You will just have to do a blind time on it. The timing on it should be some where between 0 TDC to 4 BTDC. The manuals should tell you how to time it, if not let me know and I will post the Instructions on how to time it.
rjh1936 Posted February 13, 2008 Author Posted February 13, 2008 Jonesy, I appreciate your reply. I know how to time it, but I would like to have the correct timing as there are differences in models on what is correct, 0 degrees, 2 degrees or 4 degrees. I really thought on this great forum there would be someone who would have the answer. I know that the information was printed on more than the labels and must be in a manual somewhere. Thanks again for your reply, I'm still hoping for the advance number needed. Dick
