Front Driveshaft 99 Jimmy

OK, Im in a bind, Id like to just get rid of this beast but its going to be a few weeks...so, my 99 Jimmy 4.3L 4x4 has like 4 inches of slop in the front driveshaft, the yolk is toast at the rear of it, and I can't afford to fix it at the moment, with this particular vehicle is it possible for me to just take that driveshaft off?

Probably could, I took the front driveshaft off a Ford Bronco and drove it like that for about 2-3 weeks, no real ill-effects other than the 4wd strangely not working haha.
