Ez-lift Tailgate

My truck has the $95 option ez-lift tailgate. I have a friend that has also has a 08 silverado without the option. We had them side by side and I could not tell any diffrence opening or closing them. I do like the lock on the tailgate though. Just wanting your thoughts on the subject.

 

Do you have this option? Was it worth the extra cash to you?

I have this option and I couldn't tell the difference between my tailgate and a friends f-150.

 

I usually don't like those wheels Kevin, but man your truck looks sweet.

I like it for the lock,I also don't notice any difference between my truck with it and a truck without it.

I do like the EZ-Down tailgate dampner strut that I added though!

I find my $95 well spent, and I also enjoy my EZ-Down every day.

My wife likes it a lot....

 

Whomever was comparing with an F150 above, I believe Ford started adding that as well some model years ago. Maybe you were testing assts vs. assist.

 

My last F250SD did NOT have it, and I will tell you THAT tailgate was HEAVY.

I would rather have a heavy tailgate that takes some muscle to lower and raise, than a flimsy one that is easy to operate, but will dent as soon as you sneeze on it too hard.

Like most posters so far, I can't tell the difference between my '07 GMC with EZ-lift and my dad's '08 Chevy without it. The lock is nice though- I guess.

 

And, like "grumpy" stated, the GM tailgate is much, much lighter than the one on my former F250.
