'04 6.0 No Compression On #2:(

Ok my g/f's dad's truck is actin' up. I figured plugs and wires needed changing right, because it was missin' pretty good. i hook it up and it's the #2 cylinder. So i figure for sh*ts and giggles to have him bring it in IN CASE. They are saying #2 cylinder has NO compression. What's the likely damage to that cylinder? thanks~Cole~

Piston Rings Leaking-Compression is low on the first stroke. Compression then builds up with the following strokes but does not reach normal. Compression improves considerably when you add oil.

Valves Leaking-Compression is low on the first stroke. Compression usually does not build up on the following strokes. Compression does not improve much when you add oil.

If two adjacent cylinders have lower than normal compression and injecting oil into the cylinders does not increase the compression, the cause may be a head gasket leaking between the cylinders.

so you think it may be a headgasket? because it's missing on #2 AND #6 although it's constant on #2 and random on 6. i had him take it to the dealer for a better diagnosis as my thoughts are since it doesn't EVER have any compression in 2 that it's either a hole in the piston OR valve stuck from broken spring or something. The Engine is quiet except kind of a Puttering sound it makes. No rattling or clunking or anything. We'll find out Tuesday~Cole~

yeah turned out he had a bad coilpack wire and it caused the no firing on that cylinder and it washed the walls of oil and wore down the wall and piston. Needed a new motor:(

I was just about to say probably the coil pack, until I read this post. My F 250 used to have problems with a coil pack and went through two in one year. Thats surprising though that the coil pack failed, because I heard they should last the life of the truck. Anyway what was the bill for repair?
