2006 Grille Question?

I have a 2004 2500HD my question is will the grille from an '06 fit my truck(the grille with the wings). also is there a difference between the 1500 and the 2500HD grilles? Thanks for any input

2001 & 2002 1500s have a thinner front end grill & bumper & the HD trucks have larger size front.

2003 - 2004 1500s & 1500HDs - 2500HDs have the exact same front

2005 - 2006 ( & 2007 classic ) have a split grill design, & a taller upper bumper cap.

I'm unsure if its a direct swap, but the greater length of the upper bumper cap I would imagine its not, may need HD bumper brackets & supports.

EDIT I just looked on ebay for 2003 - 2004 HD trucks, their bumper pads are tall too, so I would say a 2005 - 2006 split design grill will definitely fit on a 2003 - 2004 HD

The grille should fit as long as the new grille is for an 04 up 2500. Bumper plastics and brackets are different between 1500 and 2500 (04 and up). The 2500 grille is taller because it drops down below the bumper pad line of a similar 1500. The 2500 bumper has a cutout in the wider upper plastic pad to accommodate the grille shell.

Does that make any sense?

The 1500 and 1500 HD's did not get the later grill/hood till 06.

The 1500 and 1500 HD 2003-2005, 2004 2500, and 2003-2004 2500 HD have the same hoods/grills.

The 1500, 1500 HD 2006- 2007 classic, and 2005-2007 classic 2500 HD have the same hoods/grills.

The 1500, 1500 HD, and 2004 2500 has the same top bumper pads, 2500 HD's have the taller pads.

I wanted to do the later grill also, but needed to replace hood also. If you have the money I like the later much better myself. But you will need hood and grill.

Changing the hood is optional. The top of the grille is the same... even on the non HD.

The '05 and up HD hoods were straight across.

The '03-'04 hood was not straight across.

EDIT: Darn, after looking around eBay it would be pretty pricey to upgrade my grille. grille, brackets, hood, bug deflector... too much for me.

This is what insurance fraud is about, your a fireman so its possible a deer could leap out sometime, right?

That happened to my 96 Blazer. Was headin to the fire house for a call when a deer jumped out. I plowed it and kept going. d**n chevy tank, bearly cracked the middle bar.
