ok guys. so i work with a buddy. he has a 2003 2500 HD duramax 6.6L auto, locked rear end, ext cab. short box. He has been wanting to sell it for a while and is now buying a house and wants to save a little money but still needs a truck. he has not hurt this truck in any way. It's not a lemon he is trying to unload. he put a toolbox, new tires, dual exhaust, and a $600 programmer in this truck. My question is yesterday he told me he would be willing to trade trucks with me. i have a 2001 silvy 1500 5.3L with 111,000. Nothing wrong with my truck and has some accessories on it. His truck has 66,000. He wants to trade trucks plus 11,000. So basically he wants $20,000 for his truck. I owe about exactly 9K on my truck right now. What do u guys think i should do? any problems with his truck i should be aware about? hows that 6.6L?

Thanks --- Mat

Sounds like a good deal to me... The only problem is you will probably get the same or less mpg's out of the Dmax and diesel is about 30-40 cents per gallon more right now than unleaded. If you need the power to tow or the HD platform, then the Dmax is the way to go!

He wants too much, IMHO.

That truck has a blue-book trade value in the range of $13,000 presuming it's a "full dress" LT (leather, Bose, etc).

I disagree... KBB says an LS 4x4 in "good" condition is $20,800 for a private party sale. In excellent condition it is over $22K. Since he knows the owner and the history of the truck, I think it is a good deal!
