Started lurking here about a week ago and just joined recently after taking delivery on a 2008 Black 1500 LT Silverado Z71 4x4 CC :D Nice to see the wealth of info already available on the NNBS. Traded in my 05 Nissan Maxima for this beast and I am already missing my gas mileage :D Other than that I love the truck! Have alot of mods in mind and will take them on as $$ is available. First mod thanks to this forum will be the DIC upgrade, followed by LineX Xtra, and tinted fronts to match. I will list a few other things I have in mind and if anyone wants to chime in, please feel free. Also if you're in KC, holla!

MOD LIST

1. Color matched door handles, grille and bumper. I want the bumper with the fog lights as mine does not have it. Anyone have a good source for this? I will just sell mine on ebay or trade if someone did not want their fog lights :) Would this be a plug and play type mod?

2. Want to change to the heated, power folding, turn signal mirrors also painted to match. How involved would this mod be if?

3. After driving the truck a few days, I don't like where the interior door handle is. Has anyone attempted to switch to the LTZ door panels?

4. Figure out a way to paint rear bumper to color match.

5. Katzkin leather and aftermarket sunroof

6. New audio and video (No clue on what yet???)

7. New shoes 22" or 24"

8. Has anyone tried to swap out the AC controls on the standard LT to the dual digitzed LTZ unit?

9. Would like to find the stealhiest looking bedcover, what are the best options?

I know that looks like a big list but I will tackle these all one at a time. Wish me luck and I look forward to hearing form you guys/gals!

Welcome. Quite a list there, are you sure you bought the right vehicle? :D A goodly portion of your list are frequently brought up topics. The search engine should return about every hash and rehash of color matched trim, mirror changes, leather, audio, wheels etc. If you get stuck on something, I'm sure someone here will have expert advice.

Nice, did you get the 5.3 or the 4.8? The painted to match door handles & the mirror covers are an easy mod that will bring up the appearance of your truck. If your going to install fog lamps you have to change your front bumper to one that will accept the fog lamps and paint them to match. You have to buy the mirrors and install them and see if you get lucky and if they work. I would say it would have been better to get the auto air auto conditioner stock, because your going to waste a lot of money to change it.

lol that's quite a step from a maxima to a 1500. My other car is a '05 altima w/vq35 and that 250hp v6 will get 34mpg on the highway so I know what a difference it will be for you.

I got the 5.3L. I guess I was hoping the auto air was going to be an easy swap like the DIC. It looks like the same size opening and that the brains/computers was all in the controls. :D

Welcome to the forum Ray :D I can help you out with this one. I replaced the mirrors on my GMT900 Denali with those off an Escalade, and my old mirrors are for sale. They have all the features you want, plus they have the nice black painted caps. PM me if you're interested and we can discuss the details. I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

If your going to buy mirrors with the turn signal, they may or may not work. They are not like the mirrors on the classic silverados that if you had stock power mirrors and if you installed the turn signal mirrors they would work. I tried to install turn signal mirrors on a 2007 Suburban LT2 and everything would work except the turn signal on the mirror. Just letting you know it may or may not work.

I'll tell him to look for the correct plugs Walter :D It's pretty simple to tell what features you can add; the female connectors on the door switch assembly are all color coded with the male ends on the mirror assembly. So long as these colors match up, you're all set. If you're dead set on adding certain features and don't have the correct door switch assembly though, you can always order it and you'll be good to go. There's always a solution.

Yeah, if you really want them you can add them. On the older trucks and SUV's it was way easier to install the power turn signal mirrors. I installed the turn signal mirrors on my 2003 Suburban and on my 2006 Silverado and they worked instantly, the only thing that didn't work was the power fold. But the signal, autodim worked. How much are u selling the mirrors for? Do they have the puddle lamps?

Nothing is easy anymore, is it? The mirrors have the driver side auto dimming, power folding, heated and turn signal features. No puddle lamps though. For some reason, only the GMT900 Escalades and certain full size SUVs (such as the Yukon Denali) have the puddle lamps; the only GMT900 pickup with the puddle lamps is the Escalade EXT (if you even consider that a pickup). I'm looking to get 175 for them, shipped. I think that's a pretty fair offer considering how much they are new.

For the mirrors they require different door switches and the wiring in the doors are not set up for that style upgrade. The harness for the doors on both style setups is completly different. The plugs on both style switches are different. Almost looks as though you would have to replace the following - both switches, driver and passanger, wiring harness in both doors (if possible) and the mirrors. Your truck is probably set up for the signals to work but that is it. The only reason for that is if you wanted to upgrade to the camper mirrors w/ turn signals. What I did on mine was buy some scrap mirrors with good glass and harness and install them in my existing housing. Very easy. One way to see if your truck is set up for the signals is to remove your door switch and unplug your mirror harness (is not plugged into the actual switch but undernaeth the edge where the switch sits) If you have 7 wires going to this plug the signals should work.
