Anyone Install A Plow?

Has anyone installed a polw on a Nnbs 07-08 GMC or Silverado 1500?

I know they make the snow prep plow package for regular cab but don't for ext and crew cab. Just curious if anyone has installed a plow on their own and what brand and why you went with that brand.

I am looking to get one and figured I would go with the Fisher Minute Mount 2 Light Duty 7 1/2 foot plow for my 07 Silv. NNBS 1500.

Just curious since I have been researching it. Just wanted some opinions is all.

I've never had a plow, but I've never heard anything but good about Boss Plows, and I've seen them in action and they sure do the job. They make one for extended and crew cabs. Check THIS out.

Oh, but they're not cheap....

Jon.....There are a lot of good plow brands out there.

I have had great luck with Westerns. Beware of the Fisher LD models.

If you want a Fisher go with the other regular models.

Also note that if your truck does not have the VYU plow prep option

your dealer may have issues with any warranty repairs. Some do

some don't and its' best to ask ! I have been there and done that.

(Please no Mag/Moss act rantings!)

My new GMT-900 2500 plows great but it was $pendy having it swapped

from my 04 2500 because I needed new wiring harness (2) and a new

push bar (aka mounting carton)..........................

Just beware of this when buying a used plow set up and note the year,

make and model of the truck it came from!

Couldnt agree more about BOSS. I work for a buddy of mine when i am town we now have 3 trucks running Boss Power-V's (used to have Straight Blade) Have never had a problem with them.

It would be great if you could give a little more information on the type of plowing that you are going to be doing with this.

All the new GMT900's have a factory plow installed at the time of purchase. It's called the front valance. Mine does a dandy job of plowing snow. :jester:

Guys,\

I appreciate all the info. I was thinking of the LD editions in any brand because I wanted to keep the weight down on the front end since my truck doesn't have the plow prep package. The dealer I bought the truck from was iffy on the install but another said the install on my type of truck right at the dealership and would warranty the truck all day.

I was wondering if I should go with the Light Duty polymer edition plows from one of the major companies in order to keep the weight down. I see the last post had a 8 foot plow which is probably heavy. I just wanted to keep the weight down o the front end didn't get beat and cause me headaches. Any suggestions and don't beat me up to bad, I am just concerned because I never owned a plow before. I have plowed but they have always been installed on someone elses truck. DOES THE PLOW PREP MATTER THAT MUCH+++??????????????

I don't think for your leisure plowing of your driveway you will have to worry much. The biggest thing i would do is put a heavier spring up front. As for Steel Vs Polly. Polly has a couple bonuses in a Heavy sticky snow it moves off it alot faster and smother; big plus for when you are doing some cleaning while it is melting. And, a big kicker no rust, except for the cutting edge and other metal components.

As for weight on the BOSS plows

7'6" Sport Duty Polly 421 LBS.

7'6" Standard Duty Polly 608 LBS.

7'6" Standard Duty Steel 572 LBS.

NOTE>>>>>>>>Checking Western and Fisher poly plows usually weigh

MORE than steel plows. Boss must be a exception.

A Western 7.6 RD plow would be a good choice for a few driveways.

The ultra mount system makes it a snap to mount dismounting.

My Western with wings has been worked hard and is gonna be 8 plus

years old and been on 3 new GM trucks!

In 2 years when I get a new truck I am gonna get either a Blizzard with

power wings or a Western Wideout from the man in Erie PA.............

Jerre at Jerres plow service and his famous Erie Special !!!!!!!!!!!!
