Mt Classic Ii Back Spacing Question

I've been thinking about getting new wheels and tires for a while and have decided to go ahead and get 16 x 8 MT Classic II's with 285 75 16 tires (most likely Pro Comp Mud Terrain since they're on sale right now). I'm looking at getting the wheels and tires from 4wheelparts.com and they have two different 16 x 8 options with the 6 on 5.5 bolt pattern. My question is this, what back space should I get for my truck so that everything fits? Do I need to get the 3.625 inch or 4.4375 inch back space, or am I barking up the wrong tree all together. Just FYI, I have a 2004 Z71 Regular Cab, Stepside Bed with no fender flares if that matters. Thanks for whatever info you might have. Also, if anyone has any comments on the tires I'd appreciate that info too. Thanks in advance!

Anyone have info that might help? I looked through the search a few times and found some info that said going with backspacing close to 5" is best. That being said, I searched through Mickey Thompson's site and saw that 3.625 is what's recommended. Is that just with the stock 265 75 16's? Does it change since I want to run 285 75 16's? I'm pretty confused right now. Thanks for whatever info you might be able to offer.

With an 8” wheel and either of the two backspacing you mentioned, both would put you in a 0 to negative offset range which means the wheel will stick out of the wheel opening much farther then stock.

If you want to keep the paint on the side on your truck stick with a 5.25 – 5.50 with a 8” wheel (this all changes if you go with I different width).
