08 Tahoe With Piston Slap

I bought an 08 tahoe last month and all has been good until the last couple mornings I noticed the damn piston slap for like 2 seconds every morning. I thought they had this figured out, should I even bother bringing to the dealer so they can tell me its normal.

If it only lasts a few seconds, it IS normal.

Could be carbon in the combustion chamber too. When mine got dirty it would sound a little like cold start knock. A treatment of GM Top Engine Cleaner made mine go away on my Tahoe. If you haven't done it ever in 100K I would strongly recommend that or use Seafoam. I like the GM spray because I spray it into the intake while running and then I pull each plug and fill each combustion chamber with foam, let it sit (sometimes overnight). Fire it up watch the smoke show then change the oil when done.

I don't think he has the same issue as you. Especially since his engine is new. Carbon deposits would be more likely to cause clattering under load. His cold start noise that goes away quickly sounds like (pun intended) piston slap (or possibly even bled down lifters) to me.
