Got My Wester Tune!

yeah so i had so much anticipation to get her in and try it out, we downloaded it went for a rip and honestley, i don`t think anything happened, tried again, same, so guy said he would look into it, and dang its the long weekend here, nice weather and she`s parked. AND i gotta work outta town for next week starting sunday!! dang, he didn`t charge me but said not to put in my old tune from my micromax tuner, dang!! so i gotta wait, ssuuuuch a bummer!! anybody else had this problem? did it get resolved? maybe its just cause i have a 10 year old truck with a 454?

How did you get the tune? PCM swap, custom tune software, took it to the tuner, etc?

I realize that stories such as this are rare but this is what keeps me looking away from a custom tune and taking the safe route with a reputable hand held unit.

I took it to a westers rep he took my stock program out through laptop then next day we put in the *tune* but i swear there was no difference, he came along with me and he thinks nothing changed also, and of course i have to wait till next week (when i`m not in town) to let the tuner guy check it THis guy is just a rep, guess he`s trained to recieve the program and instal it and run the dyno and 0-60 / 1/4mile times. BUT i did find out that with full lenght headers cold air kit and larger mass air flow sensor i shaved 1.2 seconds off my stock run!(no tune) THE actual tuner is lyndon at WESTERS in tilley AB, way south of were i live!

A lot of the guys on the Denali site swear by this guy. Should be able to get fixed quickly. Bummer it is the long weekend.

apparentley its fixed and in, but my tuners out of town this afternoon and i`m headed outta town tommorow, so i`ll have to get it in a week or so,.. double bummer, will let you`all know when i put it in a get results compared to stock and maxtuner, see which is better.

What long weekend??? - Easter is on Sunday. You guys are off on Friday or Monday? ...Must be nice...Our 1st holiday of the year is Memorial Day....

 

Anyway, back to the point...I've heard that BBC's don't respont well to a tune or chips and such. I had a chip in my '91 SS and hardly any difference was felt until after I advanced the timing to 12-14 degrees. Otherwise the only difference you could tell was the shift points were higher and harder.

I felt a noticable difference with my 98, we did 0-60 test it made a 1.2 second quicker difference, thats pretty substantial!! going to install larger throttle body on tommorow or sunday, then retest with the tuner and compare against he hand held micro max, and unless they made major changes to his program, its not gonna be much better,...

Well got the tune in and its alot better, except now i have trans problems, the Tourque converter lockup is intermittantly staying locked and making some super hard shifts, i got a code for the solenoid, gonna pull the pan and check the harness and plug for problems, may have to get a new solenoid. but anyways finally got throttle body an got it one, it helped with throttle response, made some runs did 8 seconds flat 0-60 at 6358lbs that was right after the download, the other program got .5 second faster after a week so i`l retest this weekend and see what happens.
