07 Nbs 4x4 Problem

Ok ive had an aftermarket stereo in my silverado for a few months now no problems. Today we installed the harness so my steering wheel controls will work with my aftermarket radio. Steering wheel controls work great but i have a problem. At first I got service 4x4 on the dash display which was because the 4x4 switch wasnt plugged in and ive seen this before.

 

Tested the controls and they worked great, went to put dash back together and i dont remeber if car was on or not when I plugged 4x4 switch in but ive turned the car off pluged in unplugged many times. When the car starts it lights up liek usuall but you turn the knob and nothing happens the indication stays on 2wd. Any ideas wtf is going on

 

Only thing i could think would remotely be invovled was for the steering wheel controls you tap a wire at the BCM and I know i tapped the right wire cause my steering wheel controls work.

reset the pcm and now its fine

Same thing happened on my stereo install, turning the key on with 4wd switch disconnected throws a "service 4wd" code which the installers had to reset twice.
