Could It Get Me Through College?

I'm really looking into this LT. 2002, 122K. Do you think it coul get me through college with having to buy a new rear end or tranny? I'll be pulling a little bit, and I dont dawg em when I drive. I drove it and the tranny is smooth, but I thumped once from 1-2 after it shifted. Other than that, it's great. Do you think it would last me 4 years at 15-20K per year?

My uncle had a 99 Z71 that he bought new. He works construction so they were all highway miles and his trans. took a crap around 150k. Motor still runs strong at 180k+

From 2-3 and 3-4 and 4-overdrive its smooth as butter. It only thumped when I took it to 2350 in gear one. Below that it didnt thump. Any ideas what that might be from?

Yeah, I know what it is if it is a shudder when shifting from 1st to second. I have the same problem, but it does not in any way affect the performance or durability of the tranny, so don't worry about that. When it is warmed up, does it even shudder worse? If so, all this fix involves is a new connector along with the repositioning and addition of a few wires on the alternator circuit, which I would not even bother with. The electrical feedback involved with the original routing of the charging circuit interfered with the operation of the transmission-pressure control solenoid. This resulted in a fluctuation in line pressure and produced the shudder from first to second gear......

This issue is mostly inflicted on the '00-03 Silverados/Sierras

You can have it checked at a GM dealer for 150$. Optimum inspection they call it. That's what I did before I bought mine. As a total ignorant mechanicaly speaking, it made me feel a little safer. They hook it on a computer to check if everything's OK with the engine and a bunch of other tests.

If it lasted that long in good shape, I think you'll still be good for a while.
