Powering Up Cb Radio

Recommended Posts

Just put a cb radio in my truck. Modified the trim where the old casette player (useless) used to be and now im trying to figure out how i should power the radio. I wanna tie it into the existing wires for the casette player but i dont have a wiring diagram to know which wires i should tie em in too. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

You can fun it through the cassette power wires but you are going to want to find one that works with the ignition that way you dont run you batter down if you leave it on...

If you have a continuity/voltage meter, you can stab one of those wires and check the wires with the ignition off and than turn it on to see if you get any current. I think that you will need a 30 am fuse and than make sure you have a good ground and you should be good!

i was hoping i could just tie in the power(fused from factory) and the ground right into the existing casette player harness. I pretty sure the orange wire going into the harness is power but there is a black wire and a black/white wire both of which could be grounds. I wish i had a meter here with me, im at school and dont have access to half of my tools i have at home.

Found a wiring diagram and the orange is hot and the black is ground. I tied in the wires, pretty good connection, no power. Gotta find a new source now. Couldnt just get the easy way to work.
