I have a 1999 K3500 DRW with a 454 and Auto, Problem is that from time to time ( more so than not ) the truck will spit and sputter under anything over about 1/4 throttle when accelerating, you can floor it when it does it and it will just keep sputtering and then eventualy pull out of it and take off as it should.

Truck is giving no Engine Light or anyhting, I changed the fuel filter thinking maybe it was getting plugged or something and no change, I have yet to hook up the scanner and with no Engine Light being on not sure it'll have any codes to give.

Any help would be greatly apreciated, I have a 15 hour trip in 3 weeks and will be pulling a 43 foot toy hauler so i don't want to have any issues that far from home.

Thanks in adavance, Corey

Check and make sure you have good spark on a cyl. It could be as simple as a bad plug wire.

Truck has 49psi running and about 55psi when you gas it, fuel psi that is. I think it calls for 55-62 psi from what i can find on the net, anyone have an idea or opinion on whether this is my issue or not?

I have a 99 Jimmy that's doing the exact same thing-although mine will do it while cruising down the highway at a steady rpm, when I come to a stop, its sluggish while accelerating, and at times will completely stall-without throwing a check engine light. I just had a tune up. If you figure it out it'd be great to know what the problem is!!

A clogged cat could cause this, but should throw a DTC. I have seen real dirty fuel systems do this too. I would try changing the fuel filter one more time.
