Is anyone else going to see this tonight?  I dont think i have ever anticipated a movie more this much since pearl harbor.  It looks pretty good and is a true story which i want to see it i dont know much about what happened and hopefully this will be a history lesson (doubt there will be any love stories involved)

Full review later tonight

This is one movie I actually want to go see, which is suprising for me.  I very rarely go to the movies, but this might be one exception.  Unless it turns out to not be that good....

Maybe I should go, its been a year now since I've been to a theater.

JP your PM box is full, but I said, I will not go to the movies w/ you this weekend.  I don't swing that way.

(there goes my attempt at being Mr. Nice Guy :sigh: )

I am going to see it this afternoon, I can't wait.  I read the book about 3 or so years ago when it first came out, and it was one of the best books I have ever read.  It is amazing what these soldiers went through, and I am not ashamed to say that I had to set the book down a couple of times to shed some tears because it was that moving and heartbreaking.

Hope you all enjoy the movie.

I've got the book sitting right here that Dad gave me over Christmas and told me to read.  I hope to get to it this semester sometime, from what I've seen it should be good.

I plan on seeing it (If I  get a chance to) a good 2 weeks or so after it has lost it's "popularity".

Me and my buddy made the mistake of going to see a movie on opening day. It was "The Grinch", and after every "Funny part", we couldn't hear the movie for the next 5 minutes cause everybody else was laughing.

Never will do that again.

You mean there was a funny part in that movie. I fell asleep in the theatre from being bored to death.

I am going to go see hawk next weekend maybe. Depends on how the week go's and if I feel up to getting out into the world.

I want to go see "Blackhawk Down", too. I haven't been to a theatre since 1988, because I'd rather watch movies at home.

"Blackhawk Down" is different. I was there. It was a very nasty time for the Armed Forces. I was in Somalia on and off for the entire campaign. The whole thing started out as a good idea and turned to crap quickly.

I read the book and I can say for the record that it is the most historically and militarily correct book I have ever read.

It also gave me nightmares for weeks, remembering things that I had figured best forgotten.

If they mention it it the movie, I was in the P-3 flying overhead and observing most of the operation, I wasn't actually on the ground for much at all. All of those guys on the ground, either pinned down or mounting rescue ops, are the bravest individuals on this planet. They deserve a well done tribute to their outfit, their fallen comrades, and themselves.

Well, I saw the movie this afternoon and it was extremely good.  This is by far one best movies I have ever seen.  It followed the goings of the book very, very well, so much that I knew the names of some of the people before they said them and knew things that were going to happen, but that didn't damper the movie one bit (and I last read this book when it first came out about 4 or so years ago).  I was extremely moved by the movie and it does a good job of bringing the story of those horrible hours for our bravest military people to life for all to see.  Hopefully some of the average Americans out there, who don't pay attention to the military (or are ignorant about it), will come away from with a better understanding of what it was like and just how dedicated and brave these men are.

After seeing the movie tonight i am left speechless.  I dont know what to say.  I think the most touching moment to me was when the movie ended and they were showing some facts about death tolls and who died NO ONE left the theater.  It was utter silence.  I had chills.  My gf who doesnt like military fillms was very moved by this movie.  This by far was better than pearl harbor (love stuff ruined it) and saving private ryan.

Also prior to a few months ago i never knew that this event actually took place. I was 14 yrs old at the time.

Best film of the year 4 stars (out of 4)
