Electric Brake Requirements

I have an 04 GMC 2500HD with tow package. I recently purchased a trailer with electric brakes. What do I need to do to actually be able to use the brakes?

You'll need a trailer brake controller.....personally I recommend the Prodigy. A little pricy, but a great controller.

There is also a wire hardness from GM that you can get (if one did not come with your truck) that plugs in under the dash (far left from brake pedal) and connects to the trailer brake controller.

There is also a 40amp fuse that needs to be put in the fuse panel (under the hood...can't remember the socket number sry), which will allow you to charge the trailer battery when the trailer is connected.
