Removing Valve Covors

So i am trying to clean up the engine bay, so the valve covers need some special attention. How do i get the driver side cover off? What is holding me up is the bracket that holds the a/c pump and power steering pump sits about half an inch above the cover. Is there a work around to get the cover off or do i need to remove the entire bracket?

If i need to remove the bracket, how do i go about that?

Anybody?

You will need to remove the bracket to get the cover off. Just pull the bolts out of it. You might have to unbolt the compressor and remove it first. Not a HUGE job but a bit of work.

i have wondered about this also, but is there a way to close off the AC system so you do not have to purge the system and then recharge when you are done?

Leave the hoses attached and just set it aside. Don't open the system. Normally you have enough give in the lines. Take some wire through a bolt hole and tie the compressor back out of your way. Don't put too much pressure on the lines... just move it enough to get the cover off.

 I never thought about just moving the entire AC like that...lol I am mostly talking about my older 93 4x4 i used to work on...it was converted to the cheap r34 anyway..So i just unbolted the one bracket that bolts to the back of the compressor and let the gasses fly !!!! then recharged..lol im an idiot.. :smash:

Nope... Not an idiot. Sometimes the most obvious thing just doesn't seem all that obvious!

:smash: Well put. How many times I've scratched my head with one hand, and my ass with the other, and the solution becomes the obvious.

Well i knew i had to remove the bracket, what i was trying to ask was where all the bolts were. I discovered a bolt and a nut right under the power steering pump and another nut on the side of the block. But i got it off in the end.
