The Voices In My Head Are Speaking...

And they wont shut up...

First off, I've read through a few threads and have found some pretty good info so far, but still looking for a little bit more.

Got the 4x4 mainly for snow in the winter and some occasional light off road (getting to motocross tracks/trails) and RARELY ever haul more then my bike and some gear in the back. It's deffinetly more of a street queen.

Now I'm looking for opinions from both sides but I can't decide if I want to eventually do a 2" level kit in the front, or a 2" drop in the rear. Not looking for PERFECT level but want the ass end close.

So far it seems that each may have its own little downsides, but interested in whatever is easier/cheaper and will still have a nice ride.

Opinions, comments, hints, tips, tricks???

Thanks.

Well I've actually done some more reading and im heavily leaning towards removing the huge blocks from between the springs and axle and just getting the smaller u-bolts. But like ive seen and from what ive read, that will put the ass end pretty close to the bumpstops. If i cut them down, would it adversely affect the drivetrain if the travel ever went past where the original stops were? Also, is there any negatives to having the springs mounted straight to the axle like that?

Again, any tips, comments, and opinions are welcome,

Thanks.

just take out the block... you need the plate with the 4 holes in it that the u-bolts go through...

yea i might be tryin this route tomorrow if it doesnt rain or if some of the guys i know at the dealer i used to work at will do it/let me do it inside. im sure once i find the new u-bolts that it cant take more then 45min or so.

That is the route I would take too. Just remove the block and see how you like it. If you don't then reinstall it and then crank the keys up.

by removing the block it will be safer for your suspension. If you crank up your t-bar up too much you will have stuff wear out too quick in the front end. So removing the block is the safer and smarter idea for you. IMO.

thats what ive been thinking, just wondering if there is any ill effects of not have anything between the spring and the axle. if anything, front leveling kit will be instore if the block removal doesnt work out. now i just hope my old work has some shorter u-bolts that will work.

There shouldn't be any ill effects of not have the block. Just think a 2wd doesn't have the block and it is fine.

oh true, didnt know that, cool... looks like i just need to get the u-bolts and a place to do it and i'll be set.

NOOO!! these Chevy trucks are already smaller than all the other 1/2 tons!! I would raise the front 2"s.

Lowering it in the rear will make it easier to get your bikes in there but I wouldnt lower a truck unless your trying to really slam it. (which i still pretty much disagree with)

I bought mine for the same reason to haul my MX bikes around and I have no problems with a 2" front lift and 33's.

Your truck will look so much tougher with the front lifted up than with the rear lowered, and either route is simple to do.

i still may go that route, since its so cheap to do the rear im tryin that way first... although i did find out today that i need a lift to get me enough room to take the blocks out so that will have to be done this weekend.
