Cai Installed!

Got the CAI installed today - not much noise difference - exhaust is a little louder and the truck has more balls. No noise from the engine area though. Is this normal?

Nope. I am betting the "more balls" factor is the Placebo effect and if you don't hear more noise from the engine when accelerating, you must have really loud exhaust.

The Truck feels like it has a bit more pickup - not from start, but after 30 km/h or so. It's not the noise and I doubt its the placebo effect.

I've got a Flowmaster delta 40 muffler, and the exhaust is louder now than when it was before the truck got the CAI. Not a whole lot, but it is noticable. I'm not really hearing any air intake noises though. Odd.

i just put mine in today too... not much under hood noise increase but exhaust note is deeper...

havent taken it our for a drive yet though.

Thanks for noticing the difference in exhaust too!

Above 3,000 RPM - I Think I can hear something that MAY sound like the intake from the engine. But the radio has to be off - and noone can be talking inside the truck. It's pretty quiet. .....And yes, I checked under the hood to see if the intake was actually installed.

a sealed enclosure will trap more noise than an open element like K&N. I know on my cousin's 06 sierra with a K&N you could really hear it sucking the air down.

My GMPP CAI adds significant sound, but my exhaust is stock, so that may be why i hear it more. I am guessing yours is simply drowned out by the exhaust.

As for power, my truck was still stock when I installed it and I didn't notice any gains. I imagine with my tune and at higher RPMs there is some benefit, but not much.

My K&N also added some noise from my Magnaflow cat back system, but OH MY the intake roar is like an old big block Vette 4 barrel opening up. Everyone who rides with me when I get on it is impressed. I say the truck speaks with a Corvette accent now. I love the sound so much it has been heck on the gas mileage

When I get on mine pretty good, my Volant CAI reminds me of an old Holley 4-barrel carb opening up. For a while, I thought it was the exhaust that was louder. But, the more I've paid attention, the more I've noticed that the extra sound is from up front (under the hood), not out back (from the exhaust).

Yeah, I paid real close attention today driving down the highway. The noise is comming from up front - sounds awesome. It has close to the same sound inside the cab as the drone from the exhaust does - so I got them confused. It's a wicked combo and the truck sounds amazing. I'm real happy with the upgrade.

Maybe I should have bought the 6.0 eh Vmax!
