8.1l Plug Wires? Which

ALright, I burned a plug wire and I'm using it as an excuse to buy, new, hopefully "better" wires soon. I want some input from some of you whom have done an upgrade and weather or not its worth it etc... I just put in some NGK Iridium spark plugs. That was a worth while upgrade! Runs very smooth and I still have the burned wire in there.

I just don't want to buy some autozone cheapee's if there is a better brand for the money.

I have JBA headers on the engine as well.

Thanks,

Rob

if I am not mistaken JBA offers a set of plug wires to compliment and clear their headers

I've been looking for the same thing. MSD makes a set, which I think is also the same that are used for the LS engines. I think Taylor mades a set or two also. Summit has them if you dig in far enough. I think the MSD's are about $80, but Oreilly's has them for about $75 and Summit will price match.

Ok, went to autozone and bought their 35.00 plugs. They are just about the same (knockoffs) of Gm's wires. No big deal. If wires arent going to make anymore HP, why should I spend alot more on them?

Anyway, I bought an ebay auction of 8 fiberglass plug sleeves for 18.00... nice..

So, put those on and no problems. Went with NGK Iridium plugs at .40 gap. Truck runs nicely now..

While changing out the wires, I noticed that I did a little more damage than previously thought to two wires.. Both were burned in half by the headers... hence the plug wire condoms.. So, thats why it ran like hell and mileage was "worse than normal"..

Thanks for everyones input. If I hadn't needed wires sooo badly, I'd have gone with JBA's. They are much shorter boots at the plug vs stock.

Later,

Rob
