Hey guys,

 

My friend has a 02 Sierra with close to 300,000 and his tranny just went out and some buddies want to get him a new one. Where do we start at and what would be the best one to get? I know he going to keep his truck and eventually put a new engine in it.

300K on a 4L60E not bad, not bad at all!

 

So is your friend going to to install the tranny himself (and perhaps A little help from friends) ?

 

Or a Tranny shop do it all ?

 

If he's going to do a Owner install Is the Mr Goodwrench rebuilt still a consideration? I had a friend that did it himself with a MR G rebuild in a Vette and it was a good deal on both cost and warranty.

 

Other than having a NATIONAL warranty places like AAMCO (fill in the blank on the other national shops) are only as good as the Owner and Techs working there as far as quality and ability to find and replace all of the bad or marginal parts.

holy crap! 300K on a stock 4l60e? That's got to be damn near a record.

After thinking about it. It's probably 300,000 km right?
