I have been looking around reading alot of topics on programmers. I have come down to these 2. I have a question on the edge. Will it be able to read trouble codes and also reset them.

 

Ok, For the people that have had either one of these can I please get your inputs. For funtion and also ease of use. So any information you can give I would appreciate it.

Neither.....get a custom tune.

 

I had the Edge, it did NOTHING for TM or GM's Abuse Mode Nannies.

 

No comparison between the Edge and a Custom Tune.

I would like to be able to change it back to stock when ever i need to. also would like to be able to change things as I add them, like bigger tires ans so forth instead of haveing to send it back each time.

Then I suggest waiting a month or 2 (or less?) for the EFI Live handheld. Then Justin (Blackbear) can send you a tune via e-mail and you will have all the benefits of a handheld too. No removing modules or sending them back and forth. You can even log your truck and send him the log files for a true custom tune. Call Justin and ask him about it. I love my Nelson tune, but when this becomes available, I will be switching to it.

I'm not knowledgable in either. I just know to call a tuner and tell them what I want and wait for the modules to come, and put them in the truck.

I say go for a custom tune, I have a black bear tune and it is really awesome.

One vote for the Predator here!

 

You can get all the custom tunes you want sent by email. You load them into the programmer and tune your truck.

 

Plus you can even custom tune the "canned" tunes to your liking.

 

I am definitely happy with the purchase.

 

Although the best tune is a dyno tune. No matter what everyone else says nothing beats time on the dyno.

They're still working on torque management for nbs, but they have a forum specificly for GM gas tuners with very knowledgable members, great customer support from their website, can be taken out of the vehicle at any time, you can log realtime data, and when you're done with it you can reload your stock tune and sell it and recoup at least 50% of your buying price. it comes with two tunes (one for 87 octane and a performance 93 octane tune) and it allows you to tweak a lot of parameters including:

DoD disable

Idle RPM Drive/Neutral,

Injector Slope adjustment,

WOT Fuel 2k-3.8k / 4k-7k,

Rev Limit,

WOT Spark 1k-1.8k / 2k-3.8k / 4k-7k,

Fan adjustment,

individual adjustment per temp dependent cell,

Tire Size,

Speed limit(truck/SUV only),

Read and clear DTC's Live data and log supported

On Jegs website for the Predator it says it remaps the TQ Management. What exactly does this mean, does it decrease the amount of TM or eliminate it?

IIRC, you can't do anything with the TM with any hand held tuner. I may be incorrect though.

Gen II Predator's (for GMT800's) have menu's for both TM and "abuse settings" directly on the unit, however I have not seen the handheld and it's menu's for the 900's but I would assume they also have it. Either way a custom tune by one of the guys at diablosport should be able to take care of it regardless.
