Purchasing A 1976 Chevy Silverado 3/4 Ton

I'm buying a 1976 Chevrolet Silverado Camper Special.

New Tires, Brakes

Certified

New Master Cylindar

Texas Truck

98,000 miles.

 

 

Just wondering what I should look out for on this sucker, and if this would be any good as a daily driver. I'm not sure because it's a 454, so what should I expect for mileage?

haha, Id say maybe 10-14 mpg at best, if youve got it tuned up right.

Well I know for me it would be, but I didn't know if there was an inherent problem with this model truck or what.

check the frame were the steering box bolts to it for cracks or shiny metal indicating that it could be loose, and check both front upper shock bolts to see if they are tight, common for them to come loose and end up slotting the frame out, i had an 80 camper special, had to re-tourque lots, but i off-roaded a fair bit.

Gas mileage? I think you'd be lucky to hit double-digits in mixed driving.

That is what I was thinking, but was letting members who are more knowledgeable than me answer this question. My uncle has this in a DRW, and from what he said he is getting 9-10. But MAN that thing hauls ass!

Yeah I have a '77 K20 with a 350...I'm lucky to get 9 or 10 mpgs. Of course mines a 4x4 with 4.10 gears so doesn't help.
