Change Dash Lighting

was wondering if anyone has taken the time to pull their cluster out of the dash and install different coloured bulbs in there? i` ve looked at different clusters (you know the white, the flamed etc etc) but i was figuring changing all the illumination bulbs with red ones for a custom look. as far as i know they are all 194 bulbs, anybody else done this? did it look good or dull?

Yep, I changed mine to blue, looks great.

sweet, those are VERY good instructions, is it the same for the light switch illumination?, does it have the 194s or those T1.5 or #74 bulbs? i`d like to change those too, so do you order the superbright LEDs online? or are there stores that carry them, if you know a good place to get them letme know.

 

I`d like to go all red as i have 2 red pillar pod gauges and i have my deck screen set to red, i think it will look awsome, never even thought of LEDs, they should be very bright, and last longer.

In the 2003+ clusters, the bulbs are soldered in place. You'd have to remove the stock bulbs and solder in new LEDs.

The headlight and door switches use some kind of odd specialty bulb that SBL doesn't make replacements for. I did finally find some other LED replacements that should work, though. You'll need one for the headlight switch, but I don't know how many you need for your switches depending on what options your truck has. Just pry up your switches and count how many bulbs you find that look like these. My truck has two, one for the driver's side power windows switches and one for all of the passenger side switches. The bulb in the power mirrors switch is soldered in place and the bulb for the driver's side power locks switch is so small I doubt anyone makes an LED replacement for it.

Yes, you're going to have to order them online. You can't find any LEDs like these in ordinary stores.

This guide is for the 91-94 gauges, but it shouldn't be much different than your moonie gauges.

no, works been picking up here so haven`t got around to it, do you have a list of all the bulbs i would need? i tried looking in the owners manual, it doesn`t do more than the exterior lights, kinda sucks to tear it all down take a count then re-assemble and wait, even if i order a few to many i can use them somewere else...

Here you go, I forgot to mention that you can also change the color of 4WD illumination and A/C & Recirculation buttons too.

 

Instrument Cluster Illumination

Six 194 bulbs and T3-1/4 sockets

Replace with WLED-x5 bulbs and new T3-1/4 sockets if needed

 

HVAC Controller Illumination

Four 74 bulbs and T1-1/2 sockets

Replace with 74 or T1.5 bulbs, which ever is needed

 

A/C and Recirculation Buttons

Two 74 bulbs and T1-1/2 sockets

Replace with 74 or T1.5 bulbs, which ever is needed

 

4WD Illumination

One 194 bulb

Replace with a WLED-x5 bulb

 

4WD Indicator - Color cannot be changed

One 194 bulb

Replace with a WLED-x5 bulb

 

Dome Light

One 44mm x 10mm Festoon bulb

Replace with a 4410-x9 (Festoon) bulb

 

Reading Lights

Two 44mm x 10mm Rigid Loop bulbs

Replace with RL4410-xHP9 (Rigid Loop Festoon) bulbs

 

Floor Lights

Two 194 bulbs

Replace with WLED-x6 bulbs

 

Door Lights

Two 194 bulbs

Replace with WLED-x5 bulbs (some minor trimming required)

 

Glovebox Light

One 194 bulb

Replace with a WLED-x5 bulb

 

Ashtray Light

One 194 bulb

Nothing fits, a WLED-x might fit with some trimming

 

Seat Belt Indicator - Color cannot be changed

One 194 bulb and T3-1/4 socket

Replace with a Red WLED-x bulb and new T3-1/4 socket if needed

 

Turn Signal Indicators - Color cannot be changed

Two 74 bulbs and T1-1/2 sockets

Replace with Green T1.5 bulbs

 

Highbeam Indicator - Color cannot be changed

One 74 bulb and T1-1/2 socket

Replace with a Blue T1.5 bulb

 

Check Gages, ABS, and Service Engine Indicators - Color cannot be changed

Three 74 bulbs and T1-1/2 sockets

Replace with Amber T1.5 bulbs

 

Air Bag, Parking Brake, and Battery Indicators - Color cannot be changed

Three 74 bulbs and T1-1/2 sockets

Replace with Red T1.5 bulbs

 

Headlight Switch

One 10mm Neo-Wedge bulb

Replace with a Type B Neo-Wedge LED

 

Driver Side Power Windows Switch

One 10mm Neo-Wedge bulb

Replace with a Type B Neo-Wedge LED

 

Passenger Side Power Windows & Locks Switch

One 10mm Neo-Wedge bulb
